NEW SHOWS ANNOUNCED AT CITY WINERY WASHINGTON DC

Ivy City Winery Adds Diverse Acts to Lineup

Washington, DC (October 7, 2019)—City Winery Washington DC (1350 Okie St NE) has added several new shows to the Concert Venue and Wine Garden slated for the fall and winter. Newly added shows include Soul, R&B, Folk, Go-Go, Americana, and Alternative Rock acts.        


There are many big-name acts to look forward to this fall at City Winery! One of Austin’s most celebrated musicians, Bob Schneider will take the City Winery stage on 10/15 playing songs from his 2018 album Blood and Bones. On 10/17, Marc Cohn, the voice behind the hit “Walking in Memphis” will perform. Called the “great American romantic” by the New York TimesEdwin McCain plays at City Winery DC on 11/13. Don’t miss your chance to hear “I’ll Be” and “I Could Not Ask for More” live. New to the fall lineup: Not For Lazy Moms with Monique Samuels returns for another live recording episode on “The Re-Redefined Me” on 11/2.  Turkish musician Kalben performs 11/21 in the Wine Garden. 

 

The winter lineup fills out with various acts: Kevin Ross returns to his hometown of Washington, D.C. to perform music from his new album, “Audacity” and Corey Harris brings the blues to the Wine Garden with Todd Albright on 12/7. Famed Soul/R&B vocalist of Shalamar, Howard Hewett is set to perform 12/8. Female alternative-rock group BETTY bring their passionate energy on 12/15. 

 

Adding to the lively holiday spirit, Sunny Sweeny’s Dysfunctional Family Christmas brings a warm, honest, country Christmas to the Wine Garden on 12/15. Later that week, a special event with famed artist and star of the Oscar award-winning documentary, “Searching for Sugar Man,” Rodriguez takes the stage for an intimate evening of music and conversation on 12/19. 

 

This week at City Winery starts with Crank Jam: The World’s Only Go-Go Jam Session on 10/7. Singer-songwriter Tyrone Wells takes the stage with Dan Rodriguez and in the Wine Garden Bonnie Bishop performs songs from her new album “The Walk” on 10/8. The incomparable duo, Mick Rock and Henry Diltz sit down as part of their “Behind the Lens” tour to talk about visual storytelling, music photography, and some of their iconic shots with Queen, The Doors, David Bowie, Lou Reed, and more 10/9. Takoma Park, Maryland native Eric Hutchinson brings his Uncorked tour to Ivy City 10/10 with indie – folk duo, Skout for an evening of acoustic stories and singalongs.

 

This weekend starts with a variety of acts: catch The THE BAND band perform classic songs and deep cuts from The Band in the Wine Garden or celebrate with The Dodos as they perform music from their seminal album, “Vister” with indie group Twen on 10/11.  On 10/12, Monique Samuelsof “The Real Housewives of Potomac” hosts a brunch and live taping of her podcast Not For Lazy Moms. Later that evening, artists Zo! and Carmen Rodgers take the stage that evening to celebrate Zo!’s recent album “FourFront.” Closing out the weekend on 10/13, musician and LGBT advocateJennifer Knapp performs in the Wine Garden and “American Idol” winner Taylor Hicks stops by the winery to perform his popular hits and renditions with Brian Mackey. To remind folks that it’s a holiday weekend, Backyard Band is hosting a late-night show in the Wine Garden on 10/13.

 

For anyone enjoying a glass of wine or two while taking in a show through 10/16, proceeds of wine by the glass will be donated to Sol Relief, a Hurricane Dorian relief effort.


City Winery’s first floor Barrel Room Restaurant & Wine Bar is available for pre or post-show dinner and drinks. Reservations can be made at www.citywinery.com/washingtondc/. Additionally, guests can experience a range of City Winery’s wines at the Tasting Bar located in the entrance alcove, Open Friday 5-8PM, Saturday 1-6PM, and Sunday 1-5PM.

 

All shows at City Winery start at 8pm unless otherwise noted. City Winery’s website is updated weekly with special guest announcements and ticketing information.
