NEW SHOWS ANNOUNCED AT CITY WINERY WASHINGTON DC

 

Washington, DC (November 11, 2019)—City Winery Washington DC (1350 Okie St NE) has added several new shows to the Concert Venue and Wine Garden slated for the winter and spring. Newly added shows include Rock, Blues, R&B, Poetry, and Americana acts.

For those making plans for the upcoming holiday season, City Winery is stacked with shows that will get visitors into a festive spirit!  On 12/1, gospel music superstar PJ Morgan brings a holiday show to the Concert Venue. 12/15 features alternative rock group BETTY hosting a holiday show in the Concert Venue and Sunny Sweeney’s Dysfunctional Family Christmas takes over the Wine Garden. On 12/18, great young trumpeter Etienne Charles brings his Creole Christmas show to the Concert Venue. Kevin Lionell‘s “Soulful Christmas” moves over to City Winery on 12/22, featuring multi-talented brothers Kevin and Darrin Hawkins along with Candi Bleu and this year’s super band - Kevin Jackson, Anthony Wellington, Phil ‘Doc’ Martin and Justin Thompson. Local R&B and Go-go act Vybe Band returns to the Winery for a special edition Holiday Show on 12/23. End the year right by celebrating New Year’s Eve at City Winery! In the Concert Venue on 12/31, R&B outlier Lyfe Jennings will ring in 2020 with two shows. Up in the Wine Garden on the last night of the year, genre-defying group Secret Society takes the stage.

 

New to the winter line-upon 12/20, An Urban Comedy Flavorz Xmas Show comes to the Concert Venue. On 1/3, take in a night of Americana and folk-pop music with Christian Lopez, William James Shaffer, and Chris Cassaday.  On 1/12, swing dancing returns to the Concert Venue with Louis Prima Jr. & the Witnesses. The Godfather of Go-go music takes over the Concert Venue with The Chuck Brown Band on 1/18. Elle Varner heads to the winery on her “Ellevation” tour with special guest J Brown for two shows on 1/19. On 1/28, popular dating podcast We Met At Acme will be heading to the Wine Garden with host Lindsey Metselaar plus special guests Sarah Frase, Caleb Godsey, Corinna Delgado, Alex Hussein, and Bello Frasher. Dale Watson & His Lone Stars bring a blend of Americana and Country music to the Wine Garden on 2/8.  Spoken word poet Andrea Gibson brings their “Right Now, I Love You Forever” tour to the winery for two nights on 2/19 and 2/20. 

Looking ahead to the spring: singer songwriters Jeffrey Gaines and JD Eicher perform in the Wine Garden on 3/27. On 4/18, The Bottle Rockets & Marshall Crenshaw bring a rock and roll jam session to the winery.

Opening up the jam-packed week are jazz and soul power couple, Rhonda Ross and Rodney Kendrick. On 11/12, District Trivia hosts Trivia Tuesdays, blues guitarist Coco Montoya performs in the Wine Garden, and Mark Allen Felton takes the stage at the Concert Venue. Wednesday 11/13 brings the much-anticipated performance of the “great American romantic” Edwin McCain. The radiant Daymé Arocena brings a little bit of Cuba to winery 11/14. In the Private Barrel Room that evening, the restaurant will a taste of Southern Italy during their sold-out American Airlines First Class International Pairing Series. 

The weekend begins with CeCe Peniston in the Concert Venue to perform her hits like “Finally” and “We Got A Love Thang” in the Concert Venue and Jontavious Willis & Jerron “Blind Boy” Paxton brings blues Wine Garden on 11/15. On 11/16, Marshall Crenshaw takes the stage in the concert venue and Jimbo Mathus performs music from his album “Incinerator” in the Wine Garden. Sunday closes out with the winery’s first beverage event of the month, Movies and Wine Night: Bohemian Rhapsody and Secret Society bring their feel-good music return to the concert venue. 

 

City Winery’s first floor Barrel Room Restaurant & Wine Bar is available for pre or post-show dinner and drinks. Reservations can be made at www.citywinery.com/washingtondc/. Additionally, guests can experience a range of City Winery’s wines at the Tasting Bar located in the entrance alcove, Open Friday 5-8PM, Saturday 1-6PM, and Sunday 1-5PM.


All shows at City Winery start at 8pm unless otherwise noted. City Winery’s website is updated weekly with special guest announcements and ticketing information.
