NEW SHOWS ANNOUNCED AT CITY WINERY WASHINGTON DC

Celebrated Local Artists Black Alley (8/17), Bob Mould (9/26), Lori Williams (9/29) On Sale This Week

Washington, D.C. (June 10, 2019) — In its first year, City Winery Washington DC (1350 Okie St NE) has become a haven for artists who proudly call metropolitan Washington D.C. home. This week, the venue is thrilled to announce a slew of new shows predominantly featuring local singers, songwriters and music producers. In August, Black Alley returns to the Wine Garden for another iteration of their popular go-go dance parties. In September, City Winery welcomes legendary musician, singer and songwriter Bob Mould for a special solo show. He returns to DC amidst his European tour for an intimate performance on the main stage. And later that week, dynamic jazz and R&B songstress Lori Williams performs selections from her rich songbook of classics.

Also on sale this week is a show by longtime country artist and songwriter Roger Creager who returns to DC in August. Brooklyn’s self-proclaimed fearless five-man band Phony Ppl bring their “Mo’za-ik Tour” to the main stage in September. In October, City Winery welcomes The Dodos who will perform their seminal album “Visiter” in full, as well as Austin-based Dale Watson & His Lone Stars, who will bring a uniquely Texas-style of country music to the main stage.

This week kicks off at City Winery with a performance by Let It Flow Band, complete with a dance floor in the Wine Garden. Downstairs, the culinary team hosts an essential summer cocktail class focused on drinks best enjoyed by the grill. On Tuesday, Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter Kristian Bush, joins actress and producer Rita Wilson for an incredible evening on the main stage. Upstairs, indie-pop artist Lucette joins Luke James Shaffer for a night under the stars in the Wine Garden. On Wednesday, the 2019 DC Jazzfest returns to the main stage featuring SPAGA, while Sirius Company takes over the Wine Garden for their weekly go-go show featuring Ms. Kim & Scooby. The wine team welcomes the curious to the Barrel Room restaurant for the next in their series of blind tasting workshops. On Thursday Jazzfest continues with a special performance by Etienne Charles & Creole Soul, performing selections from his new album “Carnival: The Sound of a People Vol. 1.” The Wine Garden welcomes contemporary blues artist Selwyn Birchwood for an evening of storytelling and memorable guitar.

The weekend begins on Friday with dynamic pop/alternative and folk/Americana artist Anna Nalick, joined by Daniel Correa in the main venue. Saturday’s Who? Weekly Live! is sold out but interested guests can register for the wait list online. The wine team will spend Saturday evening discussing red wine during a special Drink & Learn program. And on Sunday DJ Jealousy takes over the decks for the weekly Rooftop Brunch, rain or shine. This Father’s Day City Winery proudly welcomes Hazel Mitchell-Bell for a tribute show featuring The Vince Evans Orchestra.

The Capital Pride parade has marched, and the festival finished, but City Winery will continue supporting the LGBTQ+ non-profit the entire month of June via its Flights for a Cause promotion. For every full priced flight sold this month, the winery will donate $10 to benefit Capital Pride’s year-round programs.

City Winery’s first floor Barrel Room Restaurant & Wine Bar is available for pre or post-show dinner and drinks. Reservations can be made at www.citywinery.com/washingtondc/. Additionally, guests can experience a range of City Winery’s wines at the Tasting Bar, located in the entrance alcove.

All shows at City Winery start at 8pm unless otherwise noted, and City Winery’s website is updated weekly with special guest announcements and ticketing information. Valet parking is available during all City Winery hours of operation. In addition to 48-hour advance access to tickets, VinoFile™ members will also enjoy complimentary valet parking, access to exclusive events, hands-on opportunities to be involved with City Winery’s wine making process, discounted merchandise, waived ticket fees, and the ability to select preferred seats.
