Rose City Comic Con Returns to the Oregon Convention Center
Portland’s Premier Comic Convention Celebrates 12 Years!
Portland, OR (July 18, 2024) – The 12th annual Rose City Comic Con, Portland’s premier pop-culture event, will unite over 60,000 fans of comic books, art, anime, books, tabletop and video gaming, television and film, cosplay, and more at the Oregon Convention Center from Friday, September 6 through Sunday, September 8, 2024. Presented by LeftField Media, the iconic three-day convention will give fans of all ages the rare opportunity to meet top-tier comic book creators and A-list celebrities, including Hayden Christensen and Rosario Dawson of Star Wars, Rhys Darby, Kristian Nairn, Vico Ortiz, and Matthew Maher of Our Flag Means Death, Simon Pegg of Star Trek and Shaun of the Dead, Doug Jones and Jason Isaacs of Star Trek, Steve Burns, Donovan “Joe” Patton, and Josh dela Cruz of Blue’s Clues, Stephanie Beatriz of Encanto and Hazbin Hotel, Dean Norris, RJ Mitte, Raymond Cruz, Steven Michael Quezada, Daniel and Luis Moncada of Breaking Bad, and more. The McElroy Family will also be on-site and will record two live podcast episodes for My Brother, My Brother & Me and Adventure Zone. Fans can enjoy hundreds of hours of programming including exclusive expert-led panels and master classes, fan-submitted programming, tabletop and video gaming, cosplay meetups, workshops, and more.
To celebrate 12 years, Rose City Comic Con will hold an official ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate Mayor Ted Wheeler’s official proclamation naming September 6, 2024 as “Rose City Comic Con Day” in the city of Portland. The ceremony will take place at 12:30pm on Friday outside of the Oregon Convention Center. Representatives from LeftField Media will also provide brief remarks at the ceremony.
Making its debut in 2024, Anime Yokocho is an all-new show feature dedicated to all things anime and manga. Fans can expect anime-focused shopping, photo opportunities, free swag, and meet & greets with popular anime voice actors such as Attack On Titan stars Bryce Papenbrook, Trina Nishimura, and Jesse James Grelle.
Returning fan favorites include Destination Cosplay, where fans can attend workshops to level up their craft, connect with cosplay enthusiasts, and show off their masterpieces in the annual cosplay competition, and Rose City Jr., a feature specifically designed for the next generation of fans — complete with an action-packed Movement Zone, creative art workshops, and exciting hands-on activations. Also returning is the Creator Pro track, perfect for fans looking to break into the comics industry. The Star Wars Fan Experience is also back and better than ever! Guests can experience 3,000 square feet of Star Wars magic including a Mandalorian throne and forge, an X-Wing cockpit, and a behind-the-scenes look at incredible props and costumes.
Rose City Comic Con Book Fair is proud to continue its partnership with the world’s largest independent bookstore and a local staple, Powell’s Books. Book Fair allows literature lovers to purchase books, get them signed, discover up-and-coming writers, and enjoy special panels and master classes from esteemed authors like Max Brooks, Terry Brooks, Olivie Blake, Laini Taylor, Nnedi Okorafor, and more.
Rose City is thrilled to welcome Portland Retro Gaming Expo back to the video gaming area. Fans can enjoy tried and true arcade favorites and retro games from every era. GameStorm, Portland’s longest-running gaming convention, and Battle Grounds Gaming Cafe will provide a variety of tabletop games, along with trading card games like Star Wars: Unlimited and role playing games like Dungeons and Dragons.
Fans can keep the fun going after hours with Dark Horse Comics, Oni Press, Wacom, and creators Jody Houser and Zack Davisson, and more for a special Drink and Draw (21+) afterparty on Friday, September 6 at 8:00 pm at Spirit of ‘77, 500 NE Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, Portland, OR.
