8/17 – 8/30: Metropolitan Washington Summer Restaurant Week

Annual promotion born from crisis in 2001 returns to support current restaurant recovery efforts

WHAT: Summer Restaurant Week, presented by Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington (RAMW), returns as the region’s biannual celebration of outstanding restaurants that contribute so much to our region. New this year, Restaurant Week has expanded to include a to-go program with a variety of family-style offerings as well as cocktail and wine pairings, available over two full weeks to encourage support of hundreds of restaurants throughout DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia.

Participating restaurants will offer dinner menus at $35 or $55 per person. Similarly, many restaurants will also offer specially priced family-style to-go dinner meals, available at two price points intended to fit a range of budgets and tastes for curbside pickup. The to-go meals offer an even greater reason to take advantage of the promotion.

Optional cocktail or wine pairings will be available a la carte for on-premise enjoyment, or take-out dining. Multi-course lunch and brunch menus will also be available for $22 per person.

Restaurants throughout the region are participating, representing myriad cuisines from around the world. Understanding that many are struggling financially during these unprecedented times, RAMW’s incredible partners at Events DC and JBG SMITH, are covering the cost of participating to ensure that area restaurants are able to partake without monetary burden. Both presenting sponsors are doing their part to help the region’s irreplaceable small and local businesses not only survive but thrive.

The expanded format was adapted to provide new ways to support the talented hospitality professionals and irrepressibly strong, community-minded industry. With an entire week added to the promotion, diners now have two full weeks to support their favorite neighborhood restaurants or explore new communities for on-premise and takeaway dining.

“There is something for everyone and this cycle of Restaurant Week is designed to allow the fullest flexibility and options for diners and restaurants as they have to be able to operate in a dial back or dial up fashion,” says Kathy E. Hollinger, President and CEO of RAMW. “Our restaurant operators have been so incredibly creative during this unexpected time, and they continue to be every day. This promotion, and its new options, really shines a light on that creativity.”
