Anime Frontier Launches in Texas in 2020
LeftField Media, the creators of Anime NYC, today announced the debut of Anime Frontier, a new convention focused on anime, manga, and Japanese pop culture launching next year in Fort Worth, Texas. The first Anime Frontier will take place May 8-10, 2020 in the Fort Worth Convention Center and bring fans together with publishers and guests from both America and Japan. Anime Frontier is supported by brands throughout Japanese pop culture and will feature participants including Aniplex of America Inc., Animate, Crunchyroll, GKIDS, HIDIVE, Kodansha Comics, Sentai Filmworks, SUNRISE, Vertical, Inc., and VIZ Media. Its first guests include voice actors Arryn Zech, Barbara Dunkelman, Kara Eberle, Max Mittelman, Ray Chase, Robbie Daymond, and Samantha Ireland.
Anime Frontier and Anime NYC are both organized by LeftField Media, a professional event organizer focused on creating amazing pop culture experiences for fans across the USA. The LeftField team is composed of dedicated fans and industry professionals, and Anime Frontier will be led by Anime NYC’s Peter Tatara and Justin Flores, life-long anime fans and industry veterans who’ve both spent over a decade working within Japanese entertainment and pop culture events.
“Texas is the second largest state in America and home to a tremendous number of anime fans, but there’s not yet a hub that brings fans together with the anime industry,” said Peter Tatara, Show Director of Anime Frontier and Anime NYC. “Anime Frontier will build that hub in Fort Worth. We work closely with leading anime and manga publishers at Anime NYC, and we’re now humbled and excited to celebrate with them in a new frontier!”
LeftField Media’s goal with any event is to make a well-run, authentic celebration for the community it serves, and outside of Japanese pop culture, LeftField’s sponsors, partners, and participants include DC Entertainment, Legendary Entertainment, NASA, Nickelodeon, Smithsonian Enterprises, the Toy Association, and more.
LeftField’s Anime NYC was launched in 2017 and has quickly become one of the largest anime events in the US. It welcomed over 36,000 attendees last year, more than 50 guests from both the US and Japan, global premieres, and the largest Japanese pop concert in the history of NYC. Tatara, Flores, and the team behind Anime NYC will now bring this robust, professionally-run Japanese entertainment experience to fans in Texas.
Anime Frontier will be based in the Fort Worth Convention Center, a 300,000+ sq ft complex in the heart of downtown Fort Worth. A city that blends cosmopolitan energy with cowboy culture, Fort Worth has preserved much of its frontier heritage and proudly calls itself “Where The West Begins”. Further, part of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, Fort Worth is within one of the largest metropolitan regions in the US - home to a population of over 8 million.
Exhibits, panels, premieres, and guests from publishers including Aniplex of America Inc., Animate, Crunchyroll, GKIDS, HIDIVE, Kodansha Comics, Sentai Filmworks, SUNRISE, Vertical, Inc., and VIZ Media will take over the Fort Worth Convention Center to present a convention unlike any other in Texas.
Anime Frontier will further welcome a host of Japanese pop culture creators, illustrators, directors, and voice actors, offering fans a rare chance to meet the women and men behind their favorite anime and manga. Anime Frontier’s first found of guests confirmed to appear include...
Arryn Zech (Voice of Blake Belladonna in RWBY)
Barbara Dunkelman (Voice of Yang Xiao Long in RWBY)
Kara Eberle (Voice of Weiss Schnee in RWBY)
