dLeña Celebrates Día de los Muertos with Immersive Los Cuatro Campaign
Experience the four elements with Richard Sandoval Hospitality from October 4 through November 6
Washington, DC—dLeña by Chef Richard Sandoval is excited to announce the return of its Día de los Muertos dining celebration this fall. From Tuesday, October 4, through Sunday, November 6, guests are invited to experience the four elements traditionally found in the holiday’s rituals and celebrations, including agave and palo santo smoke, at the Mount Vernon Triangle modern Mexican concept.
An important mission of Richard Sandoval Hospitality (RSH) is bringing families together through food. Sharing food with others, whether in a biological or community family, allows everyone to celebrate each other and the ones they’ve lost along the way. Día de Los Muertos is a celebration that centers on remembering family and friends while bringing their stories, memories, and lives back to life through food, drinks, and reminiscing.
Chef Richard Sandoval has developed food and beverage menus that evoke celebration and remembrance, while utilizing the four elements found in a traditional ofrenda: earth, water, air, and fire. dLeña will feature a few of these themed menu items including the Mole Coloradito Enchiladas ($28) with chorizo, cotija and housemade mole and the Palo Santo Pan de Muerto ($12) with smoked palo santo butter and a marigold infused sugar, a recipe which was developed in collaboration with Mexican Chef Fany Gerson of La Newyorkina. Drink offerings include the Passion Fruit & Aloe Santo ($18) with Patrón Silver, Chareau Aloe Liqueur, absinthe, lime, and passionfruit syrup, and the Vanilla Smoke ($18) with Patrón Añejo, Del Maguey VIDA, Licor 43, agave syrup, lemon zest, coffee bean, and finished with palo santo smoke.
In addition to the campaign menu offerings, guests are invited to join the celebration with a Mayan Copal Ceremony by healer Nataline Cruz, followed by a four-course culinary experience by Chef Richard Sandoval and Executive Chef Carlos Camacho with beverage pairings on Wednesday, October 5, from 6pm to 9pm.
