Historic Holiday Inn Gaithersburg Reopens

Destination Property Welcomes Guests Following Pandemic Closure

GAITHERSBURG, MD--Today Mark Carrier, President of the B.F. Saul Company Hospitality Group, announced the long-awaited reopening of the historic Holiday Inn Gaithersburg (2 Montgomery Village Avenue; 301.948.8900)  The unique hotel property is convenient to metropolitan Washington D.C. and has long been known as a welcoming property in the Washington region.

Perhaps most striking upon entry is an impressive, expansive heated indoor swimming pool. Rare among hotels in the region at comparable price points, the Holiday Inn invites guests to relax poolside all year, or enjoy access to the newly extended 24-hour fitness center equipped with new cardio equipment, free weights, and more, all easily accessed on the lobby level.

Bringing back the on-premises restaurant Harvest Plates & Pints, the hotel offers a casual, yet elegant atmosphere for guests to enjoy breakfast and dinner every day of the week.  Whether it is a la carte weekday breakfast or the popular IHG breakfast buffet on the weekends, guests can enjoy a great start to their day from 6:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.  For dinner, Harvest is open 4:00 p.m. until last call at 10:30 p.m.

Kids always stay and eat for free at the Holiday Inn Gaithersburg. Everyone under 18 can stay for free when sharing their parents’ room and up to two children, ages 11 and under, eat for free with each paying adult ordering from the main menu at Harvest. In addition to the full service restaurant, guests have 24-hour access to a grab & go marketplace, offering packaged snacks, beverages, and sundries.

Those traveling for business will find modern, tech-forward amenities and ample space to gather or celebrate. Reopened are eight event rooms with 8,000 sq ft of flexible space including a 350-person ballroom and the hotel’s stunning Washingtonian Room, bathed in natural light. The catering and banquet spaces are fully restored and perfect for social or corporate functions. Meeting spaces are complemented by hotel-wide free high speed WiFi and a 24-hour business center for any last-minute needs.

In 1973, the Holiday Inn Gaithersburg gained national renown when its largest three-bedroom, four bath Presidential Suite sold for $1,400 per night to Rolls-Royce chauffeured guests. For decades, the property has hosted all types of guests including Rock Hudson, Elvis Presley, Sonny & Cher, and Liberace. In the 1990s, culinary superstar Chef Bryan Voltaggio launched his career at the hotel as a sous chef for the hotel restaurant and banquets, later rising to fame on Top Chef. Exciting changes continue today at the award-winning, family-friendly property, as well as in its bustling community, no longer a sleepy bedroom community outside of the nation’s capital. Today, there are still plenty of surprises in store, courtesy of IHG Hotels & Resorts and the management team.

In total, The Holiday Inn Gaithersburg now features 160 spacious guest rooms, including a range of double double, king, and suite configurations, suitable for all types of travelers. All rooms feature expanded workspaces, pillow-top mattresses, 50” TVs, in-room mini fridges and microwaves, along with complimentary Dove bath products. All rooms are available to book now with rates starting at $119 per night. Direct bookings can be made online here or by calling 301.948.8900.
