Penn Quarter Restaurant Gives Washingtonians a Tuesday Habit with Local Music Performances, Global Cuisine, and Handcrafted Cocktails  

WASHINGTON, D.C. (September 5, 2019)Dirty Habit, in collaboration with Kimpton Hotel Monaco Washington, DC, has enlisted guitarist Selwyn Mendez and saxophonist D.J Smith to perform at “Green Room at Hotel Monaco” on September 10, 17, and 24. “Green Room at Hotel Monaco” is a live music series featuring up-and-coming local musicians on Tuesday nights from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Washingtonians are encouraged to grab a cozy seat in the hotel’s emerald green living room-style lobby while enjoying bites from Dirty Habit’s Executive Chef Kyoo Eom and cocktails from Beverage Manager Drew Hairston.

Guitarist Selwyn Mendez studied Music Theory and Composition at Montgomery College, where he was part of the Jazz Ensemble and World Music Ensemble. He has performed with renowned musical acts including the National Philharmonic at the Music Center at Strathmore. D.J Smith is an accomplished saxophonist and holds a bachelor’s degree in Jazz Studies from Florida A&M University (FAMU). While attending FAMU, he was a member of the university’s prestigious Marching “100” Band. Together, they will perform sets of innovative rock arrangements, neo-jazz, and hip-hop repertoires at “Green Room at Hotel Monaco” on Tuesday, September 10; Tuesday, September 17; and Tuesday, September 24 in the Kimpton Hotel Monaco Washington, DC lobby. The weekly music series is open to the public and free to attend.

The “Green Room at Hotel Monaco” menu features Dirty Habit favorites such as tuna tataki ($17), American wagyu tartare ($18), and the restaurant’s popular truffle fries ($13). The bar menu offers a seasonal selection of Dirty Habit’s handcrafted cocktails including the Rice ‘N Roses, DH Old Fashioned, and Negroni ($12-14). The late-summer wine list currently features a variety of such rosé wines as the Bueyes Extra Brut Rosé ($12 glass / $54 bottle), La Caravelle Brut Rosé ($98), and several still rosé wines from Château de Berne ($8 glass / $84 bottle).
