Atlas Brew Works Taps Alec F. Rivera as Ivy City General Manager

New GM extends curbside pickup hours, expands programming at Ivy City Brewery & Tap Room

Washington, DC—Atlas Brew Works announced today the appointment of Alec F. Rivera to general manager of its Ivy City Brewery & Tap Room. A lifelong DMV resident, Alec brings over a decade of hospitality industry and programming experience to the solar-powered brewery’s flagship location.

"We're extremely excited to have Alec join the Atlas team,” said Atlas Brew Works Founder & CEO Justin Cox. “His experience in the industry and knack for marketing will be a valuable addition as he takes the helm at our mothership Tap Room in Ivy City."

While at Great American Restaurants, Alec contributed to the restaurant’s food waste reduction initiatives and fought for other sustainable efforts. He later became assistant general manager of Pizzeria Paradiso Spring Valley, overseeing daily operations and assisting with beverage menu research and development. Most recently, he spearheaded the beer-centric restaurant’s COVID-19 reopening operations and takeout/delivery program deliverables.

In his new role, Alec will oversee the brewery’s tap room operations, while managing Atlas’ team of Tap Room Beer Guides, procuring supplies, and ensuring quality of service and draft beer system. Utilizing his marketing background, Alec looks forward to implementing innovative promotions at the Ivy City location, starting with a pumpupthejam dessert popup on Sunday, September 6, a Saya Saltena food popup on Friday, September 11, and providing libations for the Congressional Cemetery’s Cinematery Movie Series on Friday, September 18.

Starting after Labor Day, September 7, Atlas Ivy City Brewery & Tap Room will offer curbside beer pickup 1pm to 8pm daily as well as on-premise indoor consumption speakeasy-style Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4pm to 8pm. Call ahead to get the evening’s password to enter the socially distant taproom. Guests are still welcome to enjoy Atlas Brew Works in Ivy City for tap room and patio drinking Fridays from 4pm to 8pm, and Saturdays and Sundays from 1pm to 8pm.
