The 2020 RAMMY Awards Virtual Program to Broadcast Live on September 20

Program to celebrate resilient industry with Best of RAMMYS dining experience September 11-18

Washington, DCRestaurant Association Metropolitan Washington (RAMW) will announce the winners of The RAMMY Awards during a virtual, live program on the evening of Sunday, September 20, from 6pm to 8pm. Broadcast live from the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, the two-hour streaming experience will connect the region’s hospitality community with the public in innovative ways like never before.

For over thirty years, The RAMMY Awards have honored the exceptional ability and accomplishments of the hard-working individuals and organizations of the metropolitan Washington region’s restaurant and foodservice community. The restaurant community continues to be one of the region’s strongest, most resilient industries, a top employer, and training ground from which many build thriving lifelong careers.

RAMW, its Board, Executive Committee, and esteemed panel of judges, understand the importance of moving forward with the awards to honor and offer a platform to those who work tirelessly to maintain the area’s dynamic dining landscape, especially as so many restaurants and individuals play key roles in the continued recovery of the industry and their local communities. While the event honors finalists based on the 2019 year of dining, RAMW recognizes that 2020 started in a very different way with the challenges that the industry was forced to navigate, and notes that moving forward with this year’s program is important as a building block towards recovery.

“Our industry, and all of us, need things to look forward to and to give us some semblance of joy and hope in our lives,” said Kathy E. Hollinger, President and CEO of the Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington. “The RAMMYS are a true celebration of industry, and while every awards program carries with it elements of competition, the focus this year is on keeping our operators in the spotlight and telling their stories as we work to help rebuild an industry that is part of the heartbeat of our region.”

The custom-produced program will include live presentation of the awards, interviews with winners, and a showcase of incredible finalists sharing their stories across multiple digital platforms. All are invited to tune in to www.therammys.org and join as the region honors this year’s RAMMYS winners and the resilient industry as a whole. Media are encouraged to submit questions for category winners to answer live on RAMW’s Instagram account the evening of the awards. Questions can be submitted for consideration here.

Anyone can take part in the celebration through a weeklong Best of RAMMYS dining experience taking place from September 11 through September 18. Any guest who visits three (3) RAMMYS nominated restaurants for take-out, dine-in, or delivery from can enter to win a prize pack of dining gift cards valued at $500. Diners who post photos of their meals from finalist locations, highlighting the restaurant’s signature dish or drink, using the Instagram handle @RAMWdc and #BestofRAMMYS will be automatically entered to win. One winner will be selected at random by RAMW and announced during the RAMMYS virtual pre-show on September 20.
