Reston, VA — Many of us have been there since the pandemic started: seemingly never-ending Zoom calls, remote work seeping over into our personal lives and we just don’t have the time or energy to prepare a proper meal. We all have turned dependent on restaurant delivery much more than we should and more than what our wallets would agree with. Frolick has taken on the mission to change this.
Unlike restaurant food which can be overly portioned and unhealthy, Frolick delivers nutritious meals crafted by award-winning chefs from its central kitchen in Dulles, VA. The menu changes every day and has something for everyone - with plenty of vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. While the menu offers everything from hearty entrees to “health food”, what’s really interesting is that all ingredients and allergens are listed on each meal. Most dishes are under $14, inclusive of all taxes, tips and delivery fees.
For a startup that has largely been under the radar and just a few weeks old, Frolick has started growing a cult following and is now selling out almost every single day. “I don’t know how they do it, and maybe I don’t need to”, Gretchen S. said. “Everything is just so yum! I mean who gets a flank steak lunch delivered to your door for $14?”

This is reflected in both our menu planning, and our simple, transparent pricing”, says Jipy Mohanty, founder & CEO of Frolick who has several years of experience in food delivery, most recently as part of the leadership team of Delivery Hero, one of the world’s largest food delivery platforms. Mohanty understands both the operational needs of a delivery company and the local enthusiasm for the type of food Frolick is serving. “I went to school here in D.C. and I love the diversity of this city. There are few places in the world that can offer something to everyone the way the D.C. area does. When it came to launching our startup, this region was a natural choice for us.”

To continue its mission of being accessible to everyone, Frolick partners with local food banks, such as Northern Virginia Food Rescue, and gives away food from their kitchen every single day, having contributed more than 2,000 lbs of food since February.
