The Downtown Holiday Market Kicks Off the Holiday Season

15th Annual Market Opens this Week with More than 150 Artisans, Crafters, Boutiques, and Musical Performances

WHAT: The 15th Annual Downtown Holiday Market, Washington, DC’s festive shopping “village,” will officially kick off the holiday season with its grand opening event today Friday, November 22, at 11:30AM.

Located at F Street NW between 7th and 9th Streets NW, the beloved outdoor market will welcome attendees with an opening celebration and remarks from DowntownDC Business Improvement District (BID) President & CEO Neil Albert and DC Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD) Director Kristi Whitfield. Immediately following the opening remarks, a ribbon cutting photo op will take place.

Friday’s Programming and Highlights:

  • Following the grand opening event at noon, attendees can enjoy magical sounds of the season with a lineup of performers including a cappella group Clear Harmonies Carolers, sultry acoustic vocalist Emma G, and Latin jazz band Afro Nuevo, playing tunes of cha-cha, guajira and salsa repertoires.

  • This year, the Downtown Holiday Market will feature the “Made in DC” Booth — made possible through a partnership with the DC Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD) — where emerging makers will get the opportunity to exhibit their products and innovative designs.

  • In light of the market’s opening, the BID in partnership with Diverse Markets Management (DMM) is hosting a social media gift card giveaway, where two lucky winners will be awarded special prizes. Participants are asked to take a festive photo with the market’s decorative Nutcrackers and Instagrammable “JOY” statue in front of the Smithsonian American Art Museum. For more details on how to enter, visit the Downtown Holiday Market’s Instagram page.

  • Market highlights include handwoven crafts at GingerBandar, timeless accessories from watches to rings at Mistura, and unique blends of spices and teas from MondEpiece.
